Hiller Logistik Automates Very Narrow Aisle Warehouse with Jungheinrich

Hiller Logistik GmbH is set to enhance efficiency and meet strict fire safety standards with the automation of its new very narrow aisle warehouse in Lüneburg, developed in partnership with Jungheinrich. The facility features ten aisles, each 12.9 metres high, delivering high storage density on a compact footprint.

The warehouse is powered by four EKX 516a mobile robots, handling storage and retrieval operations for up to 16 hours daily. A combined energy system with automatic PzS battery charging and conductor rails ensures maximum uptime, while integrated conveyor technology and cross-aisle transfer systems connect various load carriers, from Euro pallets to boxes.

“For us, it was crucial to work with a partner who not only provides technology but also offers comprehensive consultancy and support throughout the entire process. With Jungheinrich, we have found the best solution for our specific requirements,” says Rafael Pappert, Managing Director of Hiller Logistik GmbH.

“With a storage height of 12.9 metres, we are creating a very high storage density for Hiller on a small footprint. Combined with the outstanding availability and performance of our EKX 516a mobile robots, this results in a particularly powerful and efficient solution for the new very narrow aisle warehouse,” adds Felix Salm, Senior Project Manager Mobile Robots at Jungheinrich.

Jungheinrich, acting as general contractor, provides a complete automation package including racking, conveyor technology, Warehouse Control System (WCS), and process visualization (PMI), ensuring seamless operation across all components. The new facility is scheduled to go live in 2026, fully integrated with Hiller Logistik’s existing systems.
