Konecranes Secures Major 200-Crane Service Deal with Meyer Turku Shipyard
Konecranes has signed a four-year service agreement with Finland’s historic Meyer Turku shipyard to maintain and optimize around 200 cranes, ranging from small 63 kg units to a 1,200-tonne Goliath gantry crane. The deal, booked in June 2025, is now underway and covers operational maintenance, repairs, and readiness planning for the shipyard’s full crane fleet.
Meyer Turku, a cornerstone of Finland’s maritime industry with nearly 300 years of shipbuilding heritage, has built over 1,300 vessels, including Royal Caribbean’s Icon of the Seas, and employs some 2,000 people. A long-term Konecranes customer since 1976, the shipyard continues to benefit from Konecranes’ focus on digitalization, efficiency, decarbonization, and safety in material handling.
“Faced with rapid growth and full order books, we needed a dependable partner to keep our cranes running smoothly. Konecranes has been that partner for decades, offering a service model that fits perfectly with our strategic vision,” says Vikke Elonen, Head of Maintenance at Meyer Turku Oy.
“Our ability to deliver timely and effective solutions has been key in supporting Meyer Turku’s operations. This agreement not only strengthens our long relationship with Meyer Turku but also underscores our dedication to providing exceptional service and expertise,” says Pekka Mäntylä, Sales Manager, Industrial Service and Equipment, Konecranes.
The agreement underscores Konecranes’ commitment to supporting maritime industry growth while advancing sustainable and optimized operations at one of Europe’s leading shipyards.
