Le Havre Set to Host CMA CGM’s 10 New French-Flagged LNG Container Ships
tarting in 2026, Le Havre will welcome ten new 24,000 TEU LNG-powered container ships flying the French flag, expanding CMA CGM’s fleet on its Fast Asia Line (FAL) routes between Asia and Northern Europe. Following in the footsteps of the flagship CMA CGM JACQUES SAADE, these state-of-the-art vessels highlight the strategic role of HAROPA PORT and its ability to accommodate some of the world’s largest ships.
Powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG), the new ships will significantly reduce the environmental footprint of maritime transport along the main Asia-Europe trade corridor. Bearing names inspired by iconic Paris landmarks—including CMA CGM Notre-Dame, Panthéon, Orsay, and Versailles—the fleet renewal underscores France’s maritime pride and CMA CGM’s commitment to national excellence.
The announcement also reinforces CMA CGM’s regional presence in Le Havre, strengthening HAROPA PORT’s position within global trade networks. To support operations, the company will recruit 135 French sailors, in collaboration with the École Nationale Supérieure Maritime (ENSM), further enhancing the nation’s maritime expertise and workforce.
