Port of Gdańsk Records Strong Container Growth in First Three Quarters of 2025

The Port of Gdańsk has set a new benchmark in container cargo handling during the first three quarters of 2025, reinforcing its status as a key logistics hub in Central and Eastern Europe. Over 59 million tonnes of goods were handled, a 1.2% increase from the same period last year, while containerised cargo surged 21.7% to over 2 million TEUs.

Other segments also saw growth, with ore cargo up 174% and other bulk cargo rising 8.3%, while liquid fuels remained stable, accounting for roughly half of total throughput despite a minor 2.4% decline. A total of 2,667 commercial vessels called at the port, maintaining the previous year’s traffic volume but with higher tonnage.

Financially, the port reported a net profit of PLN 285.6 million, which will be reinvested in infrastructure upgrades, terminal expansion, and enhanced road and rail connectivity to boost operational efficiency and safety.

Port officials say these results demonstrate the effectiveness of their long-term development strategy and collaboration with business partners, providing a strong foundation for continued growth and the strengthening of Gdańsk’s maritime role in the region.
