Valenciaport Awards Toyota Logistics Concession, Strengthening Sagunto as Intermodal Hub

The Port Authority of Valencia (APV) has granted Toyota Logistics Services Spain an administrative concession to operate a freight terminal at the south quay of the Port of Sagunto, dedicated to the loading, unloading, storage, sorting, and transfer of new Lexus and Toyota vehicles. The move positions Sagunto as a key intermodal logistics hub, with rail connections along the Mediterranean Corridor facilitating national and international distribution to markets including Portugal, France, Italy, and Malta.

The decision was announced at the APV Board of Directors meeting, which also confirmed Aurelio Acedo as the new managing director, succeeding Enrique Belda.

In a related move, the Board revoked a previous concession to Puerto Natura Valencia SL for a passenger terminal, citing updated traffic patterns, new ship maneuverability requirements, and the need to better integrate the port with the city. The APV plans to redesign the passenger area to enhance safety and operational efficiency.

Additionally, the Board approved expanded facilities for the Valencia Tax and Border Unit and the Civil Guard’s Maritime Service across Valencia, Gandía, and Sagunto. These spaces will support border security, customs inspections, anti-smuggling operations, environmental conservation, and fisheries monitoring, strengthening port safety and regulatory oversight.

The Toyota concession, combined with enhanced security and intermodal infrastructure, underscores Valenciaport’s strategic role in connecting Spain with Europe and the Mediterranean region.
