Western Bulk launches new Lumber & Projects desk in Bergen

Western Bulk has established a new Lumber & Projects desk in Bergen as part of its strategy to expand its commercial platform and develop specialised niche capabilities alongside its core bulk operations.

The new desk, which will begin operations on 1 May 2026, will be staffed by a team with extensive experience in lumber, project and breakbulk cargoes. The move reflects Western Bulk’s focus on attracting complementary skills and strengthening its service offering to customers.

The team includes Henrik Lahn-Johannessen and Thomas Johansen in commercial roles, supported by Kjell Magne Veka in operations. Together, they bring a combination of commercial expertise and hands-on experience in the execution of complex cargo projects.

“We are excited to welcome Henrik, Thomas and Kjell Magne to Western Bulk and to explore the synergies between our bulk and project business. Their expertise and market knowledge fit very well with our strategy of building a diversified commercial platform, where specialist teams can thrive while benefiting from the scale, systems, and global reach of Western Bulk,” says Torbjørn Gjervik, CEO of Western Bulk.
