IAG Cargo, the cargo division of International Airlines Group (IAG), has announced the approval of SkyCell’s 1500X temperature-controlled containers for use across its global network, strengthening its pharmaceutical logistics offering.
This development marks a significant enhancement to IAG Cargo’s Constant Climate cold chain service, which is tailored for the transportation of temperature-sensitive goods such as vaccines, biologics, and other high-value pharmaceuticals.
The SkyCell 1500X series is known for its advanced cold chain performance, offering up to 270 hours of independent runtime. Its efficiency can be further extended when stored in cold rooms or refrigerated trucks, providing robust protection even during unexpected delays or extreme weather conditions.
Jordan Kohlbeck, Head of Pharmaceutical at IAG Cargo, commented:
“IAG Cargo’s approval of SkyCell containers was achieved through extensive collaboration and cross-functional teamwork within our organisation.
“The pharmaceutical industry demands innovative, sustainable solutions they can rely on, and that’s exactly what we are focused on. The addition of SkyCell enables us to offer customers access to a full suite of approved temperature-controlled packaging solutions that meet the highest of standards.”
In addition to reliability, the containers support sustainability goals. Their lightweight, reusable design helps reduce CO2 emissions by up to 50% per shipment. Features like self-charging technology within cold-chain environments and a focus on repairability make the containers a greener choice for pharmaceutical logistics.
With cargo operations spanning six continents and major hubs in London, Madrid, Dublin, and Barcelona, IAG Cargo is positioned to deliver seamless global access for pharmaceutical and healthcare logistics.
The move underscores IAG Cargo’s ongoing investment in next-generation packaging solutions and reinforces its position as a trusted partner in the global pharmaceutical supply chain.
