FedEx Launches Direct Flight Between Dublin and Indianapolis to Strengthen Transatlantic Freight Network

FedEx Corp. (NYSE: FDX), the world’s largest express transportation company, has announced the launch of a new direct air cargo route connecting Dublin and Indianapolis. Operating four times per week using a Boeing 767, the new service creates a fast, reliable transatlantic link that bypasses traditional, congested coastal gateways in the U.S.

The new route is set to reduce delivery times by up to a full day, offering faster access to the U.S. Midwest and beyond. It also opens up valuable opportunities for U.S. exporters to connect directly with Ireland’s growing hubs of innovation, particularly in the high-tech, healthcare, and transportation sectors.

The route also aligns with recent investments in FedEx’s Indianapolis hub—its second-largest globally—which now includes a newly opened 16,000+ square foot cold-chain facility. Equipped with three temperature-controlled zones and a dedicated re-icing room, the facility is tailored to handle sensitive healthcare and pharmaceutical shipments.

“This flight highlights the success of our Tricolor international network redesign strategy in strengthening our capabilities in the global air freight market,” said Richard Smith, chief operating officer, international and chief executive officer, airline. “By adding this route, U.S.-based customers can reduce delivery times to one of Europe’s key innovation hubs, where industries like healthcare, electronics, and aerospace are experiencing significant growth. Our network, augmented by advanced digital tools, is designed to support customers in these expanding sectors.”

Wouter Roels, regional president of FedEx Europe, said, “Ireland is a vibrant export market, with around 68% of total goods exported in early 2025 going into the U.S. – with industries like pharmaceuticals and medical equipment leading the way. The addition of a direct flight between Dublin and Indianapolis marks a proud milestone for FedEx, connecting businesses across key industries with U.S. growth markets.”

FedEx customers using the new route will also benefit from the company’s full suite of digital tools, including FedEx Delivery Manager, Import Tools, and FedEx® International Connect Plus (FICP), which offers e-commerce businesses a balance between speed and cost. For high-value and time-sensitive shipments, FedEx Surround provides AI-driven real-time monitoring and intervention capabilities across the supply chain.

The new Dublin–Indianapolis flight underscores FedEx’s strategy to enhance speed, reliability, and access across critical global trade lanes—particularly for high-growth industries in both Europe and North America.
