Movu Robotics and Jungheinrich Launch High-Density Automated Warehouse for Coppenrath & Wiese

Movu Robotics has announced its role in a major warehouse automation project at Conditorei Coppenrath & Wiese KG’s headquarters in Mettingen. In partnership with system integrator Jungheinrich AG, Movu is providing its Movu atlas shuttle technology as the core of a fully automated packaging warehouse designed to maximize efficiency, throughput, and storage capacity.

The high-bay warehouse spans two hall sections with heights of 11.66 and 12.76 meters, offering 2,916 rack storage locations for pallets in multi-depth configuration. Central to the system are eight Movu atlas pallet shuttles, operating 24/7 to transport Euro and industrial pallets up to 1,000 kg, as well as containers up to 1,250 kg. The shuttles feature compact design, precise navigation, and a wide operating temperature range from -25°C to +45°C, enabling seamless operation in complex or unconventional warehouse layouts.

Movu atlas allows us to fully utilize existing spaces without major structural changes,” said Florian Hamza, Sales Manager at Movu Robotics. “The system’s flexibility, high-density storage, and intelligent software make it well-suited to complex building layouts while supporting efficient operations.”

To accommodate the new automation, several existing rooms were integrated into a single system while preserving the original building structure. Strategically placed openings allow shuttles to move between rooms, supporting dispatch, receiving, and co-packing processes. This design maintains a single-touch workflow throughout the warehouse, enhancing operational efficiency.

Integrating the Movu atlas system allows us to combine high warehouse density with maximum dynamics. This solution makes optimal use of available space while laying the foundation for future growth,” said Claus Bode, Technical Sales Project Manager, Jungheinrich AG.

Movu atlas allows us to lay the groundwork for even more efficient and automated packaging logistics – all within the existing building structure,” said Tobias Lesting, Engineering Project Manager, Coppenrath & Wiese.

Movu’s Warehouse Execution System (WES) coordinates all processes in real time. Movu ops converts orders into transport tasks, Movu tower optimizes shuttle allocation and routing, and Movu pilot ensures precise shuttle movements. The modular software framework enables scalable operations while providing full visibility and control over warehouse activities.

The automated warehouse is scheduled to begin operations in January 2027, demonstrating how flexible, high-density automation can adapt to complex facilities and streamline packaging logistics.
