XPO Logistics expands European contract logistics through automation and strategic partnerships
XPO Logistics is strengthening its contract logistics operations across Europe by increasing investment in automation and deepening long-term partnerships with major consumer brands, the company said.
Manufacturers and retailers across the region are facing growing pressure to build supply chains that are more resilient, efficient and scalable. In response, XPO Logistics is designing and operating contract logistics models that combine advanced automation, operational expertise and skilled workforces, tailored for complex, high-volume environments.
A recent example is the company’s expanded partnership with Arla Foods in the UK. XPO Logistics is project managing the development and will operate a new purpose-built, highly automated chilled distribution centre for the dairy producer. The facility, developed by Prologis, has been designed to support Arla Foods’ long-term growth ambitions while improving efficiency and strengthening supply chain resilience.
Alongside its focus on automation, XPO Logistics is investing in workforce development across its European operations. The company has introduced training and upskilling programmes aligned with increasingly automated logistics environments, with the aim of ensuring employees and technology evolve together.
Dan Myers, Senior Vice President, Dedicated Supply Chain – Europe, XPO Logistics, said: “Customers today are looking for logistics partners who can support long-term growth and adapt to changing market conditions. Through technology-enabled Contract Logistics solutions and close collaboration with our customers, we help future-proof critical supply chains while maintaining high levels of service, safety and efficiency.”
XPO Logistics provides contract logistics services to customers across Europe in sectors including consumer goods, food and beverage, industrial manufacturing and retail.
