FEGA & Schmitt Launches Cutting-Edge Automated Fulfillment Center with TGW Logistics
Electrical wholesaler FEGA & Schmitt has unveiled a state-of-the-art, highly-automated fulfillment center at its Heilsbronn site, developed in partnership with intralogistics specialist TGW Logistics. The new facility marks a major leap forward in the company’s logistics capabilities, significantly enhancing efficiency and service levels through streamlined, automated processes.
The project involved a complete redesign of the material flow—from goods receiving to storage, picking, packing, and dispatch. At the heart of the system is a powerful 6-aisle shuttle warehouse featuring 160,000 storage locations, supported by a network of energy-efficient KingDrive® conveyors. The installation also includes advanced packing stations, a shipping sorter, and a Warehouse Control System (WCS) to monitor and manage all warehouse operations in real time.
This automation upgrade enables FEGA & Schmitt to achieve shorter lead times, optimized workflows, and a scalable logistics infrastructure to support its continued growth. As one of Germany’s leading electrical wholesalers and a member of the Würth Group, the company operates 61 branches nationwide and reported €985 million in revenue in 2024.
With rapid growth and an ongoing commitment to innovation and digitalization, FEGA & Schmitt’s investment in automation reflects its strategic focus on future-proofing its supply chain. The new system enhances service reliability for customers across the trades, retail, and industrial sectors, offering faster order processing and increased fulfillment precision.
This project represents the third collaboration between TGW Logistics and the Würth Group, following successful implementations for Würth eiSos and Kellner & Kunz. As part of the agreement, TGW will continue to support operations through its on-site Lifetime Services package, ensuring long-term system performance and reliability through dedicated expert support.
