GXO Logistics has been selected by BMW Group to oversee logistics operations at the automaker’s Swindon manufacturing facility, marking a significant expansion of GXO’s footprint in the UK automotive sector.

Under the new agreement, GXO will manage warehouse operations for car parts at the site, with a focus on optimising supply chain performance and strengthening production resilience. The Swindon plant plays a key role in BMW Group’s global manufacturing network, producing pressed parts for MINI vehicles assembled in Oxford, as well as components for BMW models built at international facilities.

GXO said it will draw on its cross-sector expertise to introduce smarter processes, enhance technology and refine the plant’s layout. The company aims to boost efficiency, innovation and supply chain resilience, ensuring the Swindon facility can meet evolving production demands from BMW’s Oxford plant and beyond.

The Swindon site, which spans 425,000 square metres and employs more than 500 people, has been a cornerstone of UK automotive manufacturing since 1955. It manufactures critical body components and sub-assemblies, including doors, bonnets, tailgates and fenders, for a range of MINI models such as the MINI Cooper 3-door and 5-door hatch and the MINI Convertible.

The partnership represents a milestone in GXO’s growth within the industrial and automotive sectors, leveraging its capabilities in automation, data-driven logistics and continuous improvement to support BMW Group’s global production network.
