Ports of Stockholm Expands Capabilities at Stockholm Norvik Port with New Goods Terminal and Bonded Warehouse

Ports of Stockholm has announced the expansion of its operations at Stockholm Norvik Port with the opening of a new state-of-the-art goods terminal and bonded warehouse. The modern facility is designed to enhance flexibility in cargo handling and support a wide range of goods, including temperature-sensitive items.

The investment includes a dual-section facility—featuring both heated, insulated space and uninsulated storage areas—enabling efficient management of diverse cargo types under varying storage conditions. The terminal also functions as a control point for relevant authorities, streamlining the inspection and customs process.

“We are very pleased to be able to offer our customers a modern goods terminal and bonded warehouse directly adjacent to Stockholm Norvik Port. The facility is an important part of our strategy to improve and expand our service. It will be a great asset for customers who need a secure and efficient logistics solution for their warehouse management. The terminal is adaptable, which enables flexible solutions and the handling of different types of goods,” says Johan Wallén, Marketing and Sales Manager at Ports of Stockholm.

A significant portion of the facility is dedicated as a bonded warehouse, specifically adapted to meet the requirements of the Swedish Food Agency, the Swedish Board of Agriculture, and Swedish Customs. The space allows for comprehensive inspections and temporary storage, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.

“Having an improved inspection site for the Swedish Customs, the Swedish Board of Agriculture and the Swedish Food Agency at Stockholm Norvik Port is a major advantage for us and our customers. It streamlines the process, increases security and improves quality control. It also saves time and money for importers and exporters, making us a more attractive and competitive port,” continues Johan Wallén.

Stockholm Norvik Port is now one of only five ports in Sweden equipped with a border control facility for food imports. This enables the port to handle food shipments from outside the EU directly on-site, enhancing efficiency for importers.

Strategically located with direct access to the Baltic Sea and excellent transport links, Stockholm Norvik Port serves as a critical logistics hub for the Stockholm region—Sweden’s largest consumer market. The expansion reinforces the port’s role in securing reliable and efficient goods supply chains across the region.
