ReFuels N.V., a prominent European supplier of renewable biomethane (Bio-CNG) aimed at decarbonising heavy goods vehicles (HGVs), has announced a significant multi-year agreement with one of the UK’s largest logistics operators.

The deal, signed through CNG Fuels—of which ReFuels holds a 40% stake—guarantees a fixed price for Bio-CNG across CNG Fuels’ network of refuelling stations. This pricing certainty offers the customer greater visibility on fuel costs and supports their accelerated shift from diesel to 100% renewable biomethane for their HGV fleet.

“CNG Fuels’ first Bio-CNG hedging agreement demonstrates the confidence the logistics industry has in Bio-CNG as a lasting decarbonisation solution. It offers our customers price certainty while providing us with visibility on stable, low-risk multi-year cash flows. We see strong interest from other fleet operators, and over time, such agreements could account for a material share of our annual volumes,” said Philip Fjeld, CEO and co-founder of ReFuels.

Currently, CNG Fuels operates 16 public Bio-CNG stations across the UK, capable of refuelling over 10,500 HGVs each day. This equates to an annual dispensing capacity exceeding 340 million kilograms of biomethane. Looking ahead, the company aims to nearly double this capacity by 2028, serving 20,000 vehicles daily and dispensing more than 780 million kilograms annually—delivering an estimated 2 million tonnes of CO₂ emissions savings per year compared to diesel.

This partnership marks a major step forward in the logistics industry’s transition to greener, more sustainable transport fuels.
