Toyota Launches Next-Generation Traigo48 Electric Forklifts with Advanced Design and Performance

Toyota Material Handling Europe has unveiled its all-new Toyota Traigo48 electric forklift range, setting a new benchmark in material handling with a powerful combination of cutting-edge performance, energy efficiency, and ergonomic design.

Available in 3- and 4-wheel configurations, the Traigo48 models offer load capacities from 1.5 to 2.0 tonnes, lift heights up to 7.5 metres, and speeds up to 20 km/h, making them ideal for a wide range of indoor and outdoor applications—including stacking, loading, unloading, and horizontal transport.

“With the launch of our latest electric counterbalanced models, Traigo24 and Traigo80, we’ve stayed true to one of our core principles: Kaizen, or continuous improvement. This approach drives us to always go the extra mile to meet our customers’ evolving needs and challenges. Our commitment is evident in the next generation of Traigo48 trucks, which combines strength, durability, and with its top-tier performance, it’s a game changer. We’re delivering a truly unique driving experience, integrating cutting-edge design, exceptional comfort, energy efficiency, and enhanced productivity. The new Traigo48 range is designed to make a real difference in the market,” says Jose Maria Gener, Vice President Sales & Marketing at Toyota Material Handling Europe.

Energy Options to Match Every Operation

The Traigo48 range offers flexible battery choices—conventional lead-acid or advanced lithium-ion—tailored to suit different operational needs. For operators prioritizing efficiency and comfort, Toyota introduces the Traigo_i, a lithium-ion-exclusive model featuring a compact battery design that improves legroom, ergonomics, and space utilisation.

A standout design inspired by the iconic Japanese katana blade reflects Toyota’s new design philosophy—combining form, function, and brand identity. Integrated charging ports (rear for Traigo_i, side panel for lead-acid models) ensure quick and easy energy management.

High Performance Meets Innovation

Equipped with Toyota’s SyncoDrive and IPM motors, the Traigo48 models deliver high responsiveness and up to 18% energy savings over the previous generation. Optional high-performance lift motors further enhance productivity for intensive tasks.

Magnus Oliveira Andersson, head of Design at Toyota Material Handling Europe states: “The symmetry of the design gives the truck functional aesthetics, usability benefits and operational efficiency. Unmatched design that puts a new perspective on the evolution of Toyota Material Handling Europe’s design language and demonstrates its future philosophy.”

Comfort and Safety at the Core

Operator comfort is a key focus in the new Traigo48 range. Features include a floating driver compartment, reduced vibration levels, improved forward and upward visibility, a smaller steering wheel, adjustable controls, and an intuitive colour touchscreen display. An optional panoramic glass roof adds extra visibility and safety when handling overhead loads.
