Toyota Material Handling Launches All-New Optio L-Series: Raising the Bar in Order Picking Efficiency
Toyota Material Handling Europe has officially unveiled its next-generation Toyota Optio L-Series, a completely redesigned range of low-level order pickers engineered to meet the evolving demands of modern warehouses. With a sharp focus on ergonomics, energy efficiency, and safety, the new L-Series is set to transform productivity in fast-paced, high-volume operations.
Tailored for multi-shift environments and high pick-rate tasks—particularly within the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) sector—the latest L-Series offers six updated models, including the OSE250/P, OSE120/P, and OSE200X/180XP. The trucks are designed to accommodate a wide variety of applications, boasting load capacities of up to 2.5 tons and delivering enhanced performance with minimal operator fatigue.
At the heart of the redesign is a focus on operator comfort and usability. The new L-Series features an enlarged, low-step platform with class-leading entry width, now equipped with improved damping to reduce vibrations during operation. The operator platform height has also been increased to 1,195 mm, allowing easier access to picking levels up to 2.8 meters.
Additional ergonomic enhancements include a redesigned backrest with integrated side grips for improved manoeuvrability, knee protection as standard, and optional side-mounted walkie buttons for effortless operation while walking alongside the truck. Expanded onboard storage options also help streamline picking tasks.
Toyota’s new order pickers are not only more capable—they’re also more energy-efficient. The updated design reduces energy consumption by 10% compared to previous models, thanks to an optimised chassis and intelligent battery management. Customers can choose from multiple battery options, including long-lasting lead-acid or high-performance lithium-ion, providing extended run times and reduced total cost of ownership.
Smart servicing features and easier access to key components also contribute to lower maintenance costs and faster turnaround times.
Safety continues to be a core priority in Toyota’s latest release. The Optio L-Series includes enhanced intelligent safety systems, such as PIN-code login and optional Smart Access for operator authorisation. The Optimised Truck Performance (OTP) system ensures controlled speeds during cornering and load handling, improving operator control and preventing accidents.
Additional safety features include high-visibility blue or red LED warning lights, positioning lights, and a robust ergonomic backrest that aids in safe reversing and mounting.
“Continuous improvements and quality are at the heart of everything we do. Our newly launched Optio L-series order picker features a sleek design and advanced engineering to enhance safety, reduce energy consumption, increase driver comfort, and deliver the next level of operational performance. As the logistics sector continues to grow and evolve, productivity is key. This new solution empowers our customers to run efficient, future-ready operations with confidence.” says Jose Maria Gener, Vice President Sales & Marketing at Toyota Material Handling Europe
The launch of the new Optio L-Series marks the beginning of a broader refresh of Toyota’s order picking solutions. These models reflect Toyota Material Handling’s unwavering commitment to safety, efficiency, and quality—three pillars that have long defined the company’s approach to materials handling.
The new L-Series will be available to order starting end of September 2025.
