Descartes Systems Group has integrated its MacroPoint Advanced Ocean Visibility solution with SAP Business Network Freight Collaboration and SAP Business Network Global Track and Trace, expanding shipment tracking capabilities for businesses using SAP transportation platforms.

The integration, delivered through a standardised connection to the Descartes Global Logistics Network (GLN), provides shippers with near real-time, container-level visibility of ocean freight movements within their existing SAP environments.

Users can access updates covering vessel departures and arrivals, container loading, port gate movements and other key shipment milestones. The combined solution aims to provide a consistent tracking experience across ocean and road transportation, helping businesses gain greater oversight of their supply chains.

By bringing together standardised APIs, harmonised data models and continuously updated logistics event information, the integration is designed to simplify implementation and support multimodal visibility at scale. It also provides a foundation for supply chain analytics, automation and artificial intelligence (AI)-driven innovation.

Descartes said comprehensive testing had confirmed the solution’s production readiness, including reliable data exchange, accurate milestone tracking and support for complex shipment scenarios throughout the transportation lifecycle.

The latest development builds on an existing integration between Descartes GLN and SAP Business Network Freight Collaboration, which already supports processes such as carrier booking.

Descartes MacroPoint Advanced Ocean Visibility is now available through the SAP Store, which provides access to more than 2,300 solutions from SAP and its partners.

Descartes is also a member of the SAP PartnerEdge programme, which provides partners with tools, resources and support to develop applications addressing specific business requirements.
