Lufthansa Cargo, WiseTech Global and IBS Software complete ONE Record implementation
Lufthansa Cargo has successfully implemented the International Air Transport Association’s (IATA) ONE Record data standard in collaboration with WiseTech Global and IBS Software, marking one of the first large-scale production deployments of the digital air cargo initiative.
The project enables seamless exchange of shipment records between freight forwarders and airlines using the new unified data standard, which was introduced by IATA in January 2026 to improve data sharing across the global air cargo supply chain.
Working together, Lufthansa Cargo, WiseTech Global and IBS Software successfully exchanged and processed shipment data in a live production environment. Within the project, freight forwarders created Master Air Waybill records through WiseTech’s CargoWise platform, with the data transmitted and processed in Lufthansa Cargo’s systems via the IBS Software ONE Record server.
The implementation is designed to improve transparency, efficiency and resilience across air cargo operations by allowing shipment data to be validated and processed before transport begins. The standard also supports the exchange of more detailed shipment information and a wider range of file formats than previous systems, providing greater visibility throughout the logistics process.
“Lufthansa Cargo has been actively driving the introduction of ONE Record for many years to support more efficient, paperless data sharing within the industry. Following several pilot projects, we are now ready to connect to customers and partners even faster and more efficiently at scale. Furthermore, this seamless data exchange lays the foundation for introducing further digital benefits and AI-powered services,” explains Dr. Jasmin Kaiser, Head of Information Management & Chief Data Officer at Lufthansa Cargo. “We are proud to have used our expertise and experience to help launch another important digitalization project in the air cargo industry, jointly with our strong partners of IBS Software and WiseTech Global.”
ONE Record establishes a common digital data model for air cargo, enabling secure data exchange through standardised APIs between airlines, freight forwarders, shippers and logistics partners. Developed by IATA as an open-source standard, it is intended to simplify collaboration across the supply chain while supporting future regulatory and digitalisation requirements.
Elias Hatzigeorgiou, Senior Product Manager at WiseTech Global says: “WiseTech collaborated closely with IBS Software and Lufthansa Cargo over many months to successfully implement the new ONE Record standard for the shipment record. This achievement demonstrates what is possible when industry leaders collaborate around a digital vision. As early adopters, we are not only proving the value of IATA’s ONE Record standard but also helping to accelerate the industry’s transition to a truly connected air cargo ecosystem where stakeholders can exchange shipment data seamlessly, securely and in real time. By replacing fragmented communications with a standardized, single source of truth for shipment data, ONE Record will unlock new levels of transparency, efficiency and collaboration across the global air cargo supply chain.”
Radhesh Menon, Head of Cargo & Logistics Solutions at IBS Software, adds: “Partnering with Lufthansa Cargo and WiseTech Global, both recognised leaders in their respective fields, marks a significant collaboration for IBS Software. Technology, and digitalisation are significant drivers of growth for the air cargo industry, and we look forward to responding to the evolving needs of the industry, and leading ONE Record ready innovation.”
The successful deployment represents a significant step towards wider adoption of ONE Record across the air cargo industry, as stakeholders continue to modernise data exchange and improve end-to-end supply chain connectivity.
